At the heart of Salvatore Oggetti’s vision lie two quiet truths:

Explanation of the name Salvatore Oggetti

Salvatore is not only my father’s name, but also means “savior.” Combined with the word Oggetti which means “objects” in Italian this name stands for “savior of objects.”

This perfectly reflects what Salvatore Oggetti is all about: treating objects with respect, not discarding them after use, but instead restoring them so they can be used again. Even if full restoration isn’t possible, parts of an object can still be reused. Beautiful materials from one item can be repurposed for another. Sometimes, the material itself is so beautiful that it can be displayed as art.

There are many ways to creatively reuse valuable materials over and over again. Most of the objects on this site will be jewelry, but I will also explore other similar projects involving different kinds of objects for inspiration.

I myself am inspired by the Japanese philosophy on the use of objects especially Wabi Sabi, shibui and the concept of mottainai, which emphasize appreciation over waste and respect for both objects and nature.
